Porte de la Chapelle |
A sunny day was forecast today with high winds. It was good for walking. We went by metro and tram T3b to Porte de la Villette, passing a whole new area of apartments and offices alongside a canal. The city has put in the tramway before the buildings. We walked through the enormous Villette park. The Museum of Science and Industry is a very large building yet this fits comfortably into this very large space along with a large concert hall, the Paris Conservatory of Music and Dance, the Music Museum (which has the largest collection of musical instruments in the world) and the old market building which has been rebuilt into a cinema, exhibition rooms, restaurants and shops.

The space is so large that there is plenty of room for full sized games of pick up soccer, jogging and physical exercise and many people were just walking through. An ecospace has been set aside for sheep and goats. The tow path along the St-Denis canal was very pleasant although the biting wind was a challenge.
At Jaures we took a busy line 2 back to Villiers.
